This Privacy Policy explains what information BHIConsulting.com (the “Site”) collects, how we use it, and the choices you have. The Site is operated by BHI Management Consulting (“BHI,” “we,” “us”).
Information we collect
When you contact us. If you use our contact form, email us or call us, we receive your name, email address and anything you include in your message. Contact-form messages go to our business email and are not stored on the Site.
When you buy a download. When you buy the Organizational Self-Assessment Tool (Organizational Health Assessment and Planner) through our online shop, we collect your first and last name, your email address and the items you ordered. We keep a record of the order and of your download access. Our checkout does not ask for a mailing or shipping address. Any address details come to us from PayPal, as described below.
When you buy a video course. Video courses are purchased with PayPal buttons. Clicking a button takes you to PayPal’s website. PayPal then tells us about the transaction so we can give you access to the course.
Payments. All payments are handled by PayPal. We never receive or store your full card or bank account number. PayPal shares transaction details with us, such as your name, email address, address, the amount paid and a transaction ID.
Technical information. Like any website, the Site and our web host receive technical information when you visit, such as your IP address, browser type, the page you requested, the referring page and the time of your visit. Our host keeps standard server logs for security and troubleshooting. We do not use this information to identify or profile you.
How we use information
We use information to:
- answer your questions and requests;
- process and deliver your orders and course access, and support you afterward;
- keep the Site secure and prevent fraud; and
- meet our legal, tax and accounting obligations.
We do not send marketing email from the Site, and we do not use visitor statistics or analytics services.
Cookies and third-party services
The Site uses only the cookies it needs to work. We do not use analytics, advertising or social-media tracking cookies, and we do not use tracking pixels.
- Shopping cart cookie (BHI). A cookie named
PHPSESSIDremembers what is in your cart while you browse. It is deleted when you close your browser. - Vimeo videos (Vimeo.com, Inc.). Some pages include embedded Vimeo videos. We have turned on Vimeo’s privacy (“do not track”) setting, so Vimeo does not set analytics cookies. When a page with a video loads, your browser still connects to Vimeo and its security provider, Cloudflare. They may set security cookies to block bots, such as
__cf_bm(about 30 minutes),cf_clearance(up to about 1 year) and__cf_ob(until you close your browser). If you watch a video or visit vimeo.com, Vimeo’s privacy policy applies. - PayPal (PayPal, Inc.). Our “Buy Now” buttons and their images are loaded from PayPal. When you click to pay, you go to PayPal’s website, and PayPal’s privacy policy applies to what you give it there.
You can block or delete cookies in your browser settings. If you block the cart cookie, you won’t be able to place an order on the Site.
How we share information
We do not sell personal information. We do not share it for cross-context behavioral or targeted advertising. We disclose information only:
- to service providers that help us run the Site and our business, namely our web host, PayPal and Vimeo as described above;
- to our professional advisers, such as accountants, when needed;
- when required by law, for example in response to a subpoena or court order, or to protect our rights or the safety of others; and
- as part of a sale or reorganization of our business.
Do Not Track and Global Privacy Control
Some browsers send a “Do Not Track” or Global Privacy Control (GPC) signal. The Site does not track visitors across other websites, and it does not allow other companies to collect information about your online activity across websites through the Site. Because we don’t track you or sell or share your personal information, the Site works the same whether or not your browser sends these signals.
Your choices and rights
You can ask us to:
- tell you what personal information we have about you and give you a copy;
- correct information that is wrong; or
- delete your information, except what we must keep for legal, tax or accounting reasons.
To make a request, email brent@bhiconsulting.com or write to us at the address below. We may need to confirm your identity first. We will not treat you differently for making a request.
California residents. Under California’s “Shine the Light” law (Civil Code ยง1798.83), you may ask whether we have shared your personal information with third parties for their own direct marketing. We do not do this.
Nevada residents. We do not sell covered information as defined by Nevada law. You may still send an opt-out request to brent@bhiconsulting.com.
Visitors outside the United States. The Site is run from the United States, and information is processed and stored here.
Security and how long we keep information
We use reasonable safeguards, including encrypted (HTTPS) connections, but no website or email system is completely secure. We keep order records as long as we need them for tax, accounting and customer-support purposes. We keep correspondence only as long as it is useful for helping you or your organization.
Children
The Site is meant for adults who work for or serve on the boards of public agencies and other organizations. It is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from them. If you think a child has given us personal information, contact us and we will delete it.
Links to other websites
The Site links to other sites, such as LinkedIn and PayPal. Their privacy practices are their own, so please review their policies.
Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time. When we do, we will post the new version here and change the effective date above. If we make a significant change to how we use personal information, we will also post a notice on the Site.
